Natural Farm Produce

Heritage Inspired has made tie ups with organic farmers in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere, who raise crops or grow vegetables and fruits, and manufacture value added products, and directly deliver them to consumers at their doorsteps. This is a programme that puts a healthy smile back on the faces of all the stakeholders – the producer, the consumer and the facilitator.

Cultivating Health

Cultivating Health is a programme after our hearts. It focuses on two important cultural and heritage factors – food and health. These two aspects are not mutually exclusive in our traditional wisdom. The programme was included in HI’s prominent activities are to inculcate good food habits in the consumer and to encourage organic or natural farming by the farmer. In our history tours, our interaction with local folk influenced some of them into becoming organic farmers. That was a proud moment for us.

“Food is an essential and the most enjoyable part of our lives.”

What we eat is also what we are. Food has the power to nurture health or bring sorrow. Enjoyment of food with forbearance is a good recipe for health and happiness.

Consumer and the Producer

Through Cultivating Health we try to bring wellness to two communities all at once – the consumer and the producer. Both are slowly becoming aware that the prevalent food habits and cultivating practices work against the basic tenets of health. Use of chemicals in cultivation makes the soil progressively infertile, thereby increasing dependence on fertilizers; and the crop, pest-prone due to the pests becoming increasingly pesticide-resistant. The base and end products, land and food, are infused and diffused with harmful chemicals that are antitheses to good soil and good health. Food that is supposed to give nutrients instead expends toxins. Fertilizers that are supposed to enrich soil do exactly the opposite and deplete essential organisms and microorganisms of the soil making it more and more infertile and unfit for farming.

Through the Cultivating Health programme, HI has taken the initiative to bring farmers and consumers together in a mutually beneficial relationship. The producer and the consumer know each other and function in a better world and make a better earth. It is double advantage – turning back to traditional integrated farming by the farmers, thereby preserving nutrient-rich soil, environment and livestock; enjoying nutritionally rich produce by the consumers for better health and happiness.
